The Guide Michelin stars have a 125-year history of selecting the best gourmet establishments in the world. The renowned restaurant guide has launched an equivalent grading system for top hotels: the Michelin Keys. We are proud to announce that our Hotel Bülow Palais Dresden is one of only two hotels in Saxony to have been awarded with two Keys in the first round.
The Relais & Châteaux Hotel Bülow Palais in the historic Baroque neighbourhood of Dresden has been one of Germany's leading luxury hotels since 2010. On the 9th of October 2024, the French Michelin Guide rewarded our boutique hotel with two Michelin Keys, the second-best score achievable. The Bülow Palais now bears the title 'An exceptional stay'. There are no other hotels in Saxony classified higher, with only one other hotel achieving two Keys in Dresden.
As the Michelin Stars are the ultimate symbol of excellence for restaurants, the Keys serve the same purpose for hotels. They recognise the world's most remarkable hotels, no matter where they are. The broad spectrum from the sleek and modern to the charming and traditional includes castles, hostels, tents, ryokans as well as skyscraper hotels.
The Michelin Guide rates hotels according to five fundamental criteria. Outstanding architectural and interior design, quality and consistency of service, personality and character, cost-effectiveness and a significant contribution to the local area are all taken into consideration. Key hotels are the pinnacle of hospitality excellence across all categories. Just like a restaurant recommended by the Michelin Guide, hotels can achieve up to three Keys. The new Michelin Guide hotel selection was compiled over four years. It includes six facilities in Germany with three keys, 36 with two keys and 80 with one key.
Our Hotel Manager & Host Ralf J. Kutzner states, "Michelin has filled a market niche by acknowledging hospitality." Primarily, the selection celebrates genuine experiences and exemplary quality. "I am delighted that individual excellence is being highlighted" Kutzner adds.
